Butterflies!
EYFS released their butterflies into the garden area.
EYFS have been reading the story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. Earlier this term we had a delivery of baby caterpillars. We learnt about different life cycles and found out lots of fun facts about different animals. Our caterpillars soon turned into cocoons, and we had to monitor them closely! We are very proud of the children's quiet and gentle behaviour around them.
We were very excited to see that they had turned into butterflies after a few days! We nurtured them and fed them; once they were strong enough, we took them to the bottom of the playground and watched them fly off. As soon as they began to fly off, the children were captivated and totally in awe.
It was so lovely to hear the children talking about this experience all day long - a very memorable day in EYFS.
