Year 2
Week Beginning 20th May 2024
We have reached the final week of term already! The children have had a fantastic week of Mexican learning, culminating in a Mexican visitor coming the see the children. Alex cooked yummy, authentic Mexican food for the children to taste. Thank you so much to Alex for coming to see us and thabk you for all the effort you put into cooking the tasty food! Next week, the children with be doing Year 2 SATs. There will be two Maths papers and two reading papers.
Phonics
Next week, the children will read and spell wa words saying wo.
Worship theme of the week:
Next week, our worship theme will be Ascension.

Whole Class Read
We will be practising our comprehension using a range of previous test questions on several different texts.
Key Information:
Please aim to read with your child at home three times per week, as they will earn a reading raffle ticket for every three reads! In school, an adult will read with your child once per week and change their Rhino Reader book once each week too. In addition, children have ownership over their 'sharing book', which they can change themselves and pick which book they'd like to read.
We are trying to boost vocabulary within our writing in Year 2, so if you come across any powerful vocabulary whilst reading with your child, please ask them to note it in their reading record.

P.E. and Library
Please wear P.E. kits on a Thursday. Thursday will also be our Library day.
My Maths
This week the mymaths learning tasks are on a mixture of multiplication, division and subtraction crossing ten, to support their learning next week.
